Job Description

We are seeking a full‑time Carpenter and Joiner to carry out skilled carpentry and joinery work on residential renovation projects in Canberra, including framing, fit‑outs and installation of custom timber fixtures.

Key Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting architectural drawings, plans and specifications to determine materials, dimensions and installation methods.
• Measuring, marking out, cutting and shaping timber and related materials for framing, flooring, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, stairs, cabinets and other fittings.
• Constructing, erecting, installing and renovating structural and non‑structural timber components such as wall and roof framing, sub‑flooring, decks, pergolas and internal partitions.
• Assembling and fitting custom joinery items (e.g. cabinets, wardrobes, shelving and other built‑in furniture) in accordance with project requirements.
• Installing doors, windows, architraves, skirting boards, linings, trims and other interior and exterior finishes to a high standard.
• Carrying out repairs and alterations to existing timber structures and fixtures as required.
• Ensuring all work complies with relevant Australian Standards, building codes, WHS requirements and company quality procedures.
• Liaising with site supervisors, other trades and clients to coordinate work and meet project timelines.

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• A completed trade qualification in Carpentry and Joinery (e.g. Certificate III in Carpentry/Carpenter and Joiner or equivalent international qualification).
• At least 1 year experience as a Carpenter and/or Joiner, including experience on residential renovation projects.
• Technical skills in both on‑site carpentry (framing, formwork, fixing) and workshop or on‑site joinery (cutting, shaping and fitting timber parts for installation).
• Sound knowledge of Australian building practices, materials and WHS requirements, or demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to Australian standards.
• Good communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a small team environment.

Current white card, own basic tool kit, and a valid driver licence (or ability to obtain) are required to perform the job safely and travel between sites.
