Job Description

The Business Analyst works as a business partner and liaison among partners to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements of changes to information systems and their underlying business processes. Additionally, this role supports the translation of business needs into effective SharePoint solutions and Power BI reporting, enabling improved collaboration, data visualization, and decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet with representatives from various departments to understand their business requirements and related information management needs.
  • Convey business requirements to internal programmers or external IM resources and contribute to the creation of information management solutions to business problems.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation for all CPSA information system applications.
  • Perform systems analysis, gather and understand business requirements. Apply structured project management life cycle.
  • Manage system projects in terms of documentation, prioritization and end-user testing/acceptance.
  • Gather requirements for reports/data extracts for CPSA departments and external parties as needed.
  • Advise stakeholders on and support the implementation of effective project planning and change management strategies.
  • Design, develop, and maintain SharePoint solutions and Power BI dashboards to support business processes, reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
  • In support of continuous quality improvement, research new technologies, review processes and provide strategic recommendations to enhance CPSA’s technology practices.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in information technology, or equivalent experience
  • Project Management skills
  • Advanced decision-making, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Experience with SharePoint Online solutioning, including site design and configuration
  • Experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports, including data visualization and basic data modelling
  • 5 years of related experience

  • Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience using project management tools.
  • Ability to perform data analysis; business process visual modelling, and charting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Microsoft Office 365
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills and capability to make decisions that align with business goals.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate findings and solutions.
  • Effective facilitation and collaboration skills.

SALARY
The annual salary for this position is $97,562 and includes a comprehensive benefits package and pension plan.

During the 90-day probationary period, the successful candidate will be required to work from CPSA's downtown Edmonton office. At the conclusion of a successful probationary period, a hybrid work arrangement consisting of 4 days/week in-office may be considered.
