The Role - BIM Engineer
Reporting to the BIM Lead, the role of the BIM Engineer is to work as part of the BIM team supporting the delivery of Mechanical BIM projects across various sectors. The BIM Engineer will collaborate with project teams, clients, and design consultants to develop, coordinate, and maintain high-quality BIM models that meet project requirements and company standards. The role requires the efficient use of industry-leading software to ensure accurate, coordinated, and constructible designs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain 3D BIM models for mechanical services based on engineering and design information.
Detail piping, pipe supports, equipment layouts, and other mechanical services as required from base information.
Produce fabrication and installation drawings, including piping isometrics, spool drawings, and general arrangement drawings.
Assist in BIM coordination activities with internal and external project stakeholders.
Review BIM models for clashes and assist in resolving coordination issues with other disciplines.
Ensure all BIM deliverables are completed in accordance with company BIM standards and project requirements.
Follow project document control procedures and maintain accurate records of model revisions and status.
Participate in model reviews and coordination meetings with project teams and clients.
Support site construction teams by providing BIM-related information and technical assistance.
Utilise point cloud surveys and scan-to-BIM workflows where required.
Ensure model data is accurate, complete, and aligned with project specifications.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of BIM processes, standards, and workflows.
Assist with the preparation of BIM documentation, reports, and model progress updates.
Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, designers, and other BIM team members to deliver projects successfully.
Be proactive in identifying design improvements and opportunities to enhance project efficiency.
Maintain awareness of industry developments, software advancements, and BIM best practices.
Person Specification
Education, Training \& Experience
Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Design Technology, BIM Technology, or equivalent.
1-3+ years relevant experience in a BIM, design, or mechanical services environment.
Experience working on commercial, pharmaceutical, industrial, or process projects would be advantageous.
Experience applying some or all of the following software technologies is preferable:
Autodesk Revit
AutoCAD 2D
Navisworks Manage
Plant3D
BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud
Bluebeam Revu
Cadworx (training can be provided)
Microsoft Office Suite
