Position objective:

The Handsome Assistant Manager, under the supervision of the Restaurant General Manager, is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating operations and non-management personnel for a single restaurant. In the absence of the general manager, the assistant manager directs restaurant operations to ensure compliance with concept and health and safety standards and acceptable financial performance.

This role requires clear communication and organisation. You know the ins and outs of Handsome Burger and what it takes to run the restaurant smoothly - supervising the FOH & BOH team, handling any questions or complaints, ordering stock & supplies, and keeping the restaurant clean and safe. You’re constantly thinking on your feet, you know which order should be ready next, who is going on break and what needs to be restocked. At the end of the day, you assist with cashing up the till system and delegating closing tasks, making sure all checklists are complete. You gather information for the Flash Report and are in constant communication with FOH & BOH staff and the General Manager. You can work any role in the restaurant, from Kitchen Porter to Server to Grill Chef and assist the team in providing the best experience for all of our Handsome Burger guests.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Monitor all restaurant operations to ensure the quality of the product and customer service.
• Greet and make table visits to ensure all customers are satisfied with our food and service.
• Assign duties and responsibilities to employees based on work requirements.
• Communicate with employees, customers, vendors, and concept personnel for various purposes.
• Discuss issues related to ordering food, beverages, and supplies from vendors.
• Rectify customer complaints and ensure the guest feedback procedures are followed.
• Operate and know the ins and outs of the POS system & Nory.
• Ensure closing and opening procedures are followed and implemented.
• Manage any cash handling and end-of-day procedures correctly and responsibly.
• Leadership and Supervision: Assist the General Manager in managing and supervising restaurant staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations in line with HR.
• Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation, conduct regular inspections.
• Oversee inventory control, including Nory, ordering, receiving, and storing supplies & ingredients.
• Monitor food, labor & waste costs, implement strategies to optimise efficiency and profitability.
• Ensure compliance with all HACCP & Health and Safety regulations.
• Ensure equipment is maintained in good working condition, scheduling repairs & maintenance.
• Generate work schedules for all restaurant employees.
• Communicate with employees, customers and vendors for various purposes.
• Team Development: Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, providing ongoing training and development opportunities for staff.
• Prepare and present regular reports on kitchen operations, including inventory levels, cost control, and staff performance, to the Restaurant General Manager.
• When needed, may perform the duties of a food server, expediter, line cook, or runner.
