Pay: $30 – $32 per hour (depending on skills and experience)

Hours: Full-time, minimum 30 hours per week (typically 40+), including evenings, weekends, and public holidays

We are seeking a capable and motivated Assistant Manager to join our small, hands-on leadership team. This role supports the Restaurant \& Bar Manager in day-to-day operations and plays a key part in maintaining Aperitivo’s high standards of service and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Restaurant \& Bar Manager with daily bar and restaurant operations
• Lead, motivate, and supervise front-of-house and bar staff during service
• Assist with staff training, rostering, and performance support
• Maintain high levels of customer service and ensure guest satisfaction
• Oversee beverage preparation, service, and presentation standards
• Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination
• Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, food safety, and H\&S requirements
• Handle cashing up, reconciliations, and daily financial processes
• Support events and live music operations, including planning and logistics
• Help foster a positive, professional, and inclusive workplace culture
• Assist with opening and closing duties, daily briefings, and shift handovers
• Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by the owners or manager

Skills \& Background

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within hospitality
• Relevant hospitality qualification (NZQF Level 4 or higher), or equivalent work experience
• Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills
• Excellent product knowledge across food, wine, and cocktails
• Confident managing a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Holds or is eligible to obtain a New Zealand Manager’s Certificate
• Proven experience in cash handling and stock control
• Strong understanding of customer service and workplace compliance
