We are looking for a forward-thinking research leader on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and highly skilled individual who has significant experience in health research management, delivery, strategy, research performance management, finance and regulatory requirements.
With your experience in research you will develop and lead on the Trust's strategic research ambitions and grow the portfolio and profile of research.
This is an incredibly varied senior role requiring flexibility in working with the many different groups this post encounters, internally in the Trust and externally across the region, nationally and potentially internationally. It requires a highly organised, self-motivated, enthusiastic and confident person, who rises to new challenges and has excellent people management and communication skills.
This role requires someone who has significant research management experience and is passionate about research and making a positive difference for our communities.
You will be leading the Research \& Development team and working as a key member of the Trust senior leadership team.
Developing the portfolio and increasing the profile of the research
department.
Providing oversight of research in the Trust and performance management of the local research portfolio, continually looking for improvements in processes.
Ensuring clinical trials operate according to national guidelines and regulatory standards.
Providing assurance to various internal and external groups in relation to governance and quality.
Ensuring the Trust fulfils the contractual requirements associated with the allocation of NIHR funding, including production of regular performance and finance reports to the Yorkshire \& Humber RRDN.
Reporting on national and regional performance metrics and managing risks to the Trust.
Supporting business cases and grant applications, submitting cases to the RRDN for additional strategic funding.
Managing Research contracts and collaborator agreements.
Providing expert advice and support to individuals both within the Trust and from external organisations.
Building and maintaining relationships, internally and externally, to provide research opportunities for patients, carers, service users and staff.
Actively forming new research collaborations (including with commercial companies).
Developing and mentoring new Principal and Chief Investigators.
Representing the Trust in the public domain, at key stakeholder meetings.
