We’re looking for an experienced Business Partner (Sales) to join our Wellington team and manage, develop, and grow customer relationships across the Wellington region.
This is a hybrid sales role combining account management, relationship development, and new business growth. You’ll be responsible for understanding customer needs, identifying opportunities, and connecting businesses with Mainstream’s transport, container, warehousing, and logistics solutions.
Reporting to the National Manager – Customer, you’ll play a key role in strengthening customer partnerships, growing revenue, and ensuring Mainstream continues to deliver exceptional service across the Waikato market.

You’ll be the trusted connection between our customers and Mainstream, working closely with operational teams to ensure we deliver solutions that are practical, efficient, and aligned to customer expectations.
The key responsibilities of this position are:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of key customer accounts across the Wellington region
- Build strong, long-term relationships with customers and key stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to expand existing customer relationships through additional Mainstream services
- Generate new business opportunities and develop relationships with prospective customers
- Understand customer requirements and develop tailored transport, container, warehousing, and logistics solutions
- Conduct regular customer engagement activities including meetings, reviews, and relationship visits
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and commercial solutions that meet customer needs
- Work closely with Business Partners, Strategic Partners, and operational teams to deliver successful customer outcomes
- Support customer onboarding and implementation of new business
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales activity, pipeline reporting, and forecasts
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and opportunities for growth
- Represent Mainstream at customer meetings, networking events, and industry functions.
To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience in account management, business development, sales, or a customer-focused commercial role
- Experience managing customer relationships while identifying opportunities for growth
- Strong background in freight, logistics, transport, warehousing, supply chain, or a related industry preferred
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with customers and key decision-makers
- Strong commercial understanding with the ability to balance customer needs, pricing, and profitability
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Ability to develop practical solutions and understand customer challenges
- Self-motivated, organised, and results-driven approach
- Strong planning and time management skills
- Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications
