Job Vacancy: Welding Quality Inspector / Welding Inspection Technician
Location - Sharjah
We are looking for a Welding Quality Inspector / Welding Inspection Technician to join our manufacturing team.
The ideal candidate should be practical, detail-oriented, and willing to work daily on the shop floor. This is a hands-on workshop role, not an office-based position.
The candidate should be able to inspect welding work before, during, and after welding. In addition to visual inspection, the candidate should have practical knowledge of NDT methods, especially PT or MT, to help identify welding defects that may not be visible to the naked eye.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect welding preparation, fit-up, alignment, and joint condition before welding.
- Monitor welding work during production when required.
- Carry out visual inspection of completed welds.
- Use or support suitable NDT methods such as PT or MT when required.
- Identify welding defects such as cracks, porosity, lack of fusion, undercut, voids, incorrect weld size, or poor weld profile.
- Ensure welds are properly cleaned, finished, and accepted before moving to the next process.
- Coordinate with welders and production supervisors to correct rejected welds.
- Follow up on weld repair work and re-inspect after correction.
- Support pressure testing or leak testing activities when required.
- Prepare clear daily inspection reports with photos, remarks, and inspection results.
- Report repeated welding quality issues to production and quality management.
- Ensure workshop work follows basic quality, safety, and housekeeping requirements.
Required Qualifications \& Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in welding inspection, fabrication inspection, or workshop quality control.
- Good practical knowledge of welding defects, their causes, and inspection methods.
- Experience in visual weld inspection.
- Practical knowledge or experience in NDT methods, especially PT or MT.
- Experience in metal fabrication workshops, steel fabrication, pipe fabrication, tanks, or similar industrial environments.
- Ability to read basic fabrication drawings and understand weld symbols is an advantage.
- Knowledge of WPS, welding procedures, and welder qualification is an advantage.
- NDT Level II in PT, MT, or VT is a strong advantage.
- CSWIP 3.0 / CSWIP 3.1 / AWS certification is an advantage, but not mandatory for candidates with strong practical experience.
- Basic computer skills for reporting.
- Good communication skills with welders and workshop supervisors.
- Must be willing to work daily inside the workshop.
Candidate Profile:
We are looking for a practical shop-floor person who is active, organized, and detail-oriented. The candidate should be able to identify welding quality issues at the right time, communicate clearly with welders, and follow up until corrective actions are completed.
