Position Overview
The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and works closely with the Warehouse Manager and other department leaders to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. This role provides hands-on operational leadership, supports warehouse employees and workflows, and helps ensure inventory, fulfillment, receiving, and other warehouse activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
The Assistant Warehouse Manager will help coordinate daily priorities, provide operational coverage as needed, identify and resolve workflow issues, and support the continuous improvement of warehouse processes. This is a hands-on role that requires someone who can move between operational planning, employee support, administrative tasks, and physical warehouse activities depending on business needs.
Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Support the Warehouse Manager with the overall coordination of daily warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory, fulfillment, picking, packing, replenishment, product processing, storage, and shipping activities.
- Help coordinate workflow and priorities across warehouse functions, particularly during periods of high volume, staffing changes, seasonal demand, or other operational needs.
- Provide hands-on operational support when required and assist with maintaining efficient use of warehouse space, equipment, and resources.
- Provide training, guidance and support to warehouse employees, including but not limited to communicating priorities, reinforcing procedures, assisting with training and onboarding, and escalating employee or performance concerns to the appropriate manager.
- Monitor warehouse workflows and inventory processes to help maintain accurate stock levels, timely order fulfillment, and appropriate documentation. Assist with inventory counts, audits, reconciliations, transfers, and investigation of discrepancies.
- Support e-commerce and multi-channel fulfillment requirements, including time-sensitive shipments and operational requirements associated with platforms and sales channels.
- Work collaboratively with department leads/managers/supervisors and other areas of the business to resolve operational issues and maintain effective coordination between the warehouse and head office.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse organization, efficiency, inventory accuracy, productivity, and overall operational processes, and assist with implementing improvements and standard operating procedures.
- Promote a safe and respectful workplace by following and reinforcing established health and safety procedures, participating in routine inspections, identifying and reporting hazards, and supporting appropriate follow-up on incidents, injuries, and near misses.
- Work collaboratively with the Health \& Safety Committee and warehouse leadership on safety initiatives, inspections, training, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor general warehouse, facility, and equipment conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns through the appropriate channels. Assist with basic facility or equipment maintenance where appropriate and within established procedures.
- Maintain accurate operational records, data, reports, and system information and use warehouse, inventory, ERP, spreadsheet, and other business systems as required.
- Assist with warehouse projects, inventory initiatives, process improvements, seasonal preparation, and other operational priorities.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities consistent with the position and business needs.
Qualifications \& Skills:
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, logistics, fulfillment, or similar operational environment.
- Ability to work in a hands-on warehouse environment and participate in physical warehouse activities as required.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, team lead, or coordination experience is an asset.
- Strong understanding of general warehouse and inventory processes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; heavy lifting may be required
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with employees, managers, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems and common workplace software, including spreadsheets. Experience with ERP, or inventory management systems is an asset.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and professional workplace.

- ARPAC Certified is considered a bonus
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, distribution, or multi-channel fulfillment.
- Experience participating in workplace health and safety programs or committees.
- Basic facility or equipment maintenance experience.
