Job Description

Job Summary:

The Waiter/Waitress in a hotel setting is responsible for providing exceptional dining service to guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience. This role includes taking and serving food and beverage orders, attending to guest needs, and maintaining the dining area’s cleanliness and organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Service:

  • Greet and seat guests promptly with a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Present menus and provide detailed information on food and beverages, including daily specials and promotions.
  • Offer suggestions and upsell additional menu items, enhancing guest satisfaction.

Order Taking:

  • Accurately take food and beverage orders from guests and relay them to the kitchen and bar through the POS system.
  • Ensure special dietary requirements and preferences are communicated clearly to the kitchen staff.

Serving:

  • Serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently, adhering to hotel standards.
  • Ensure proper presentation of dishes and beverages.
  • Regularly check on guests to ensure they are enjoying their meals and address any issues or requests.

Preparation and Setup:

  • Prepare tables by setting up linens, silverware, and glassware before service.
  • Ensure dining areas are clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary items.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down after events or special functions.

Billing and Payment:

  • Prepare and present bills to guests, ensuring accuracy.
  • Handle payments, process credit card transactions, and provide change and receipts as needed.

Cleanliness and Maintenance:

  • Clear tables and clean up after guests promptly.
  • Reset tables for the next guests, ensuring a tidy and welcoming environment.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the dining area, including floors, furniture, and service stations.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other waitstaff to ensure smooth service.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to manage special requests and address any service issues.

Customer Feedback:

  • Address guest complaints and concerns with a positive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Inform the Restaurant Manager or supervisor of significant guest feedback or recurring issues.

Knowledge and Training:

  • Stay informed about the hotel's menu changes, daily specials, and seasonal promotions.
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings to continuously improve service skills and product knowledge.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or customer service education is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a waiter/waitress, preferably in a hotel or upscale restaurant.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations professionally.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality service.
  • Basic math skills for handling payments and making change.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From RM1,700.00 per month
