About United for Literacy
United for Literacy is a national charitable literacy organization, established in 1899 on the belief that literacy is a right. We work collaboratively with community-based agencies across Canada to provide targeted, innovative literacy and numeracy support where it’s needed most. Each year, more than 31,000 children, youth, and adults participate in our programs in over 160 communities across the country.
As a volunteer with United for Literacy, you’ll join a nationwide network of programs that support learners of all ages, from children to adults, in both one-on-one and group settings. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in tutoring math and/or science with our community partners. This opportunity is ideal for tutors to commit to at least one 2-3 hour session per week; however, any form of consistent commitment is appreciated. Tutors will work directly with students on their homework assignments, life skills, and other engaging, inclusive and fun learning activities.
