UI/UX Designer \& Animator — Job Description
Summary
Designs intuitive, accessible user interfaces and engaging motion/animation that enhance user experience, communicate brand, and improve usability across web and mobile products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead user‑centered design: user research, personas, user journeys, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
- Design high‑fidelity UI visuals, components, and design systems consistent with brand and accessibility guidelines.
- Create motion design and animations (micro‑interactions, transitions, onboarding flows, data visualizations) to improve usability and delight users.
- Produce interactive prototypes for usability testing and stakeholder review using tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Principle, or Framer.
- Conduct usability studies, heuristic evaluations, and A/B tests; synthesize findings into actionable design improvements.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, researchers, and visual designers to define requirements and ensure design feasibility.
- Translate design into implementation: provide specs, motion assets, Lottie/JSON animations, and CSS/JS guidance; review front‑end implementation for fidelity.
- Maintain and evolve component libraries, motion guidelines, and documentation for cross‑team reuse.
- Advocate for accessibility (WCAG) and inclusive design practices; ensure designs meet performance and responsiveness constraints.
- Stay current with UX trends, interaction patterns, and animation techniques; propose new patterns where beneficial.
- Mentor junior designers and animators; participate in design critiques and cross‑functional reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, HCI, Animation, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years combined experience in UI/UX design and motion/animation for digital products (adjust by level).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating UX process, visual design, and motion/animation work.
- Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, Principle, Framer).
- Experience creating production‑ready animations (Lottie/Bodymovin, JSON exports) and handing off to developers.
- Solid understanding of HTML/CSS/JS basics and how animations are implemented on the web/mobile.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
- Strong user research, information architecture, and interaction design skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with motion design tools (After Effects, Lottie, Rive) and animation systems for mobile (Android, iOS) or web.
- Familiarity with front‑end frameworks (React, Flutter) and animation libraries (Framer Motion, GSAP).
- Experience building or maintaining design systems and component libraries.
- Background in illustration, 3D, or kinetic typography for advanced interaction design.
- Experience with analytics and experimentation (Amplitude, Mixpanel, Optimizely) to measure UX impact.

Pay: $45.26 – $78.47 per hour
