Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Trainee Electrician in a full-time, permanent position in the Auckland region.

This role is a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week, and you may be required to work up to a maximum of 50 hours per week between Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. As a Trainee Electrician, you will receive a competitive hourly wage starting from $26.00 to $32.00, based on your skills and experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Electrician with the installation of electrical systems, wiring, outlets, lighting, switches, and electrical panels.
  • Support in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical faults in residential, commercial, and industrial systems.
  • Learn and apply the use of electrical testing equipment and tools to assess electrical circuits and systems.
  • Assist in ensuring electrical work is carried out in accordance with applicable electrical regulations and safety standards.
  • Assist in upgrading and replacing existing electrical systems, including wiring, breakers, and outlets.
  • Participate in routine inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical systems to ensure their reliability and safety.
  • Assist with cable installation, cable pulling, testing, and other electrical tasks as directed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Assist in documenting work activities, progress, and any issues or faults identified during work.
  • Follow workplace health and safety requirements at all times.

Job requirements:

  • A valid EWRB Trainee License is essential.

  • Minimum one year work experience working as an electrical trade assistant or in a similar role.

  • Class 1 driver license is required.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical codes (e.g., NEC or local standards) is beneficial.

  • Ability to follow instructions, blueprints, and diagrams accurately.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces or at heights.

  • A strong knowledge of safety protocols.
