Tractor-Trailer Mechanic

Join our dynamic team as a Tractor-Trailer Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our fleet. The Tractor-Trailer Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and general repairs on tractor and trailer units to Company and DOT standards. The mechanic will complete all needed repairs keeping quality and safety, as top priority. This position provides maintenance service as well as diagnostic and troubleshooting for the Drivers by ensuring their needs are met through effective communication on all equipment repairs. This position is also responsible for processing paperwork, keeping maintenance records on our fleet of trucks and trailers to keep them in top condition.

Essential Job Functions:

• Diagnose and repair trucks and trailers, including preventative maintenance, federal and PA State yearly inspections, repair to air and hydraulic brakes, tires, warranty procedures, driveline, steering and suspension, electrical, AC refrigeration.
• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on tractor and trailer equipment including routine technical repairs and completing repair orders.
• Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with team members, drivers and external vendors.
• Utilize appropriate resources, such as the parts manual and computer, service bulletins and other resources to research problems, determine most effective and efficient method for repair and to locate parts.
• Maintain and inspect of diesel fuel pump and delivery system.
• Recordkeeping and documentation of work orders and service records for the fleet of vehicles.
• Follow all Company policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and take appropriate actions, recommend process changes, and initiate improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and work additional hours in accordance with business needs and other demands of the position.

Requirements of Position:

• High School Diploma
• 5 years experience in a commercial tractor/trailer repair and maintenance
• Basic computer skills necessary
• Able to lift up to 80 lbs
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
• Must possess a current valid Commercial Driving License (CDL) and medical certificate and keep current annually.
• Ability to operate machines, motor vehicles, and tools and job specific equipment and tools.
• Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and outside companies
• Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to make logical decisions in support of business demands.
• Able to adhere to established company productivity, GMP and quality standards
• Must utilize all proper PPE for the job as described in the attached JSA
• Must be willing to work overtime and be available on-call as needed to meet the needs of the business
• Must be able to pass the pre-employment physical, criminal background check and drug and alcohol testing
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor
