About the role

Reporting to the Timaru Terminal Supervisor, this role covers the nightshift responsible for operating and providing first line maintenance support for site equipment, in particular the ship unloader, in strict accordance with all operating procedures to achieve the required operational, safety and environmental outcomes.

The work can be driven by demand, so the ability to be flexible and reactive is crucial. You will have a strong focus on improving production efficiency, service and reliability whilst maintaining and building strong relationships with our business partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all standard operating procedures relating to the operation of site equipment
• Maintenance and general yard work whilst ensuring safety is adhered to on site
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and management
• Undertaking truck loading in accordance with standard operating procedures
• Undertaking minor repair and maintenance tasks on site equipment alongside the Terminal Engineer
• Loading Coastal vessels
• Supervision of unloading of all import shipments.

About you

• Passion for safety - previous employment in a zero-harm environment
• Flexible with hours of work (nightshift will be required during import vessels)
• Strong communications skills, ability to deal with stakeholders and customers across a board spectrum
• Mechanical aptitude
• Good machinery operating skills including PLC operated equipment
• Good computer skills
• Good communication skills
• Willing to work the nightshift

Additionally, you must hold full NZ work rights with no restrictions on hours worked or duration of employment. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept Holiday or Student visas.
