Overview
Aligned Learning is seeking high-quality Intervention Tutors to provide targeted academic support in Mathematics and Science in secondary schools. This role focuses on raising attainment through structured, curriculum-aligned intervention, rather than general classroom support. Tutors will work with small groups and individual students to address key gaps, improve exam performance and contribute to measurable academic progress. The successful candidate will act as an intervention specialist, using performance data to inform teaching, adapting delivery in response to student needs, and aligning closely with departmental priorities.
Essential Requirements
- A degree in a Mathematics, Science or closely related subject
- Ability to confidently teach Maths and/or Science up to GCSE level
- A minimum of 1 year’s experience working within a school setting
- Enhanced DBS certificate (preferably on the Update Service)
- Safeguarding Level 2 certification
- Child Protection Level 1 training
- Willingness to adhere to KCSIE and school safeguarding policies
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly and accurately
- Ability to deliver structured, targeted intervention to small groups and individuals
- Competence in using student performance data to inform teaching and track progress
- Strong organisational, communication and professional skills
- A proactive and reflective approach to improving student outcomes
Desirable
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Postgraduate study (e.g. Master’s degree in a relevant subject or education)
- 2+ years’ experience in a secondary school setting
