In this role, you will:

provide the online and real-time transactional services that power ASB. As an SAP Basis Engineer – Software Consultant, you’ll provide hands-on leadership across the SAP platform - covering build, run and change. You’ll work closely with our SAP squads and partners to support the ongoing migration and modernisation of SAP S/4HANA (including the TRBK platform) from on-prem to cloud, while strengthening operational excellence across monitoring, transport management, patching, security, performance tuning, and high availability / disaster recovery.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

Essential

  • SAP S/4HANA and SAP NetWeaver platform administration (kernel patching, profiles, instances, client/system administration)
  • SAP HANA administration (backup/restore, performance, monitoring, replication, lifecycle management)
  • SAP Solution Manager 7.2 and/or SAP Cloud ALM (monitoring, ITSM/operations processes, Change Control/ChaRM where applicable)
  • SAP connectivity and integration components (SAP Web Dispatcher, SAProuter, SAP Cloud Connector), certificates and SSL/TLS
  • SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) connectivity, subaccounts/entitlements basics, and secure integration patterns
  • Experience with transport and release tooling (including Rev-Trac) is optional and a bonus
  • Automation for SAP Basis operations (scripting, Infrastructure as Code) including SAP Deployment Automation Framework (SDAF) is optional and a bonus

Demonstrated practical experience with SAP workloads on Azure (or similar hyperscaler environments):

  • SAP S/4HANA brownfield migrations (on-prem to Azure) including cutover planning, downtime optimisation and validation
  • SAP Basis methodologies and best practices (SAP standards, runbooks, patching strategy, backup strategy, monitoring)
  • Solid SAP platform operational experience in highly regulated industries (change, risk, audit readiness)
  • Strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux skills for SAP (OS hardening, performance, filesystem/storage, troubleshooting)
  • Azure implementations and operations for SAP (landing zones, networking, identity, backups, monitoring) including HA/DR patterns (e.g., Pacemaker, HANA System Replication)

Demonstrated technical delivery experience:

  • Ability to advise on SAP Basis engineering within major SAP transformation programmes of work
  • Ability to collaborate with architects on target architecture and ensures alignment with enterprise architecture and business goals.
  • Defines SAP Basis platform standards (operations, monitoring, transport governance, patching, security) ensuring scalability, resilience and compliance.
  • Deep understanding of SAP Basis architecture patterns (landscapes, HA/DR, HANA replication), integration/connectivity, and security models.
  • Translates business requirements into technical roadmaps and ensures technology enables business outcomes. Acts as a trusted advisor to senior business stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience with SAP TRBK is optional and a bonus
  • Experience in banking or financial services.
