Overview
Individual will work with Gassett Fitness Center members of various age, gender, and ability levels. Individual must hold an accredited personal training certification and will develop and lead small group training programs for the Department of Campus Life and Recreation. The number of program participants will range from 4-8 and program length will vary from 6-12 weeks.
In this small group setting, trainers are required to motivate and educate participants on proper exercise techniques, set goals for the class/semester, and check in with participants. Trainers will be responsible for designing and implementing safe and effective programs, providing a motivating and enjoyable environment, and assisting participants with equipment set-up and use. Trainers must implement proper cuing and injury prevention practices.
Trainers must have knowledge of fitness, endurance training, strength/power training and program design. Trainers must have a strong ability to coach and manage time, motivating multiple individuals in a group setting. Must have the desire and capacity to coach all fitness levels.
A nationally accredited Personal Training certification/training is required. All trainers must hold and maintain current CPR/AED Certifications.
All Trainers should attend relevant workshops, trainings, and conferences to obtain the number of continuing education credits (CECs) needed to maintain their current certifications and assist in their professional development.
Required Qualifications
Hold an accredited personal training certification

Desire and capacity to coach all fitness levels
Preferred Qualifications
Current CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain upon hire
At least 1 year of personal training experience with group training responsibilities
Working Location
This is an onsite position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities, which may require occasional/frequent/regular work on evenings and weekends.
