Site Safety Supervisor
Job Description

Tasks \& Responsibilities:

-To conduct workplace inspections, generate inspection reports, and maintain the report at the site.

-To identify safety and health gaps in daily site operation activities and recommend for control measures.

-Conduct toolbox meeting and safety briefing to site contractors, sub-contractors and field workers.

-Participate and assist SHO in occupational accident investigation exercise.

-Gather accident data and develop accident statistic for the site.

-Participate in site Safety and Health Committee meetings.

-Assist the SHO to register non-compliance issues at site.

-Participate in internal Safety \& Health audit exercises.

-Assist the SHO to monitor safety performance of contractors and sub-contractors.

-Assist the SHO to prepare, compile and maintain monthly reports.

-Assist the SHO to prepare safe work procedures.

-Perform safety and health related work as assigned by the SHO.

-Coordinate site activities by scheduling work assignments to the general workers.

-Maintain good occupational safety and health recordkeeping.

-Liaison person with authorities in the absence of SHO.

-Assist SHO on site security program.

-Undertake any other functions as directed by the management from time to time.

Skills:

1. Regulatory \& Compliance Knowledge

-Statutory Requirements: Deep understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act and relevant local regulations (e.g., Factories and Machinery [BOWEC] Regulations).

-Safety Management Systems: Ability to implement and monitor OSH Management Systems (OSH-MS).

-Sub-Contractor Monitoring: Enforcing statutory compliance across all active sub-contractors on-site.

2. Hazard Identification \& Risk Management

-HIRARC/JSA Proficiency: Ability to conduct Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).

-Workplace Inspections: Competence in carrying out daily, weekly, and monthly routine inspections to spot and correct unsafe conditions or practices.

-Incident Investigation: Conducting preliminary Investigations into accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences to recommend corrective measures.

3. Occupational Health \& Safety Practices

-Hazard Control: Knowledge of applying the hierarchy of controls (elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative, and PPE) for physical, chemical, and biological hazards.

-Emergency Preparedness: Formulating and executing emergency response plans (ERP) and conducting fire drills or evacuation exercises.

4. Technical \& Operational Skills

-Heavy Machinery \& Equipment: Validating third-party inspection certifications for heavy machinery (e.g., cranes, excavators).

-Site Supervision: Capability to coordinate with project managers and foremen to ensure work progresses safely without schedule interruptions.

-Competency Verification: Auditing the credentials of specialized workers such as scaffolders, welders, and riggers.

5. Interpersonal \& Communication Skills

-Toolbox Talks \& Briefings: Strong public speaking and communication abilities to conduct daily toolbox meetings and safety inductions.

-Safety Culture Promotion: Driving an active safety culture through continuous worker education and safety campaigns.

Experience and Education:

-Registered as a Competent Site Safety and Health Supervisor with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and hold the recognized credentials like the Yellow Book.

-At least 3 years of hands-on working experience in construction, engineering or related field

-Typically requires a minimum of a Diploma in Occupational Health \& Safety, Engineering, or a recognized Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) competency course.

Pay: RM3,000.00 per month
