Job Summary:
The Site Mechanical Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing all mechanical aspects of construction projects on-site. This role involves ensuring that mechanical installations (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.) are executed in accordance with design specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Execution \& Supervision:
- Supervise and monitor all mechanical works on-site, including HVAC systems, plumbing, drainage, fire fighting systems, and other mechanical installations.
- Oversee the quality of workmanship and materials used by contractors and subcontractors.
- Coordination \& Communication:
- Coordinate mechanical work with other trades (civil, electrical, architectural) to ensure seamless integration and avoid clashes.
- Liaise with the design team to resolve any on-site design discrepancies or technical issues.
- Quality Assurance \& Control:
- Conduct regular site inspections and walkthroughs to identify and document any non-conformities or deficiencies in mechanical installations.
- Witness and verify various mechanical tests (e.g., pressure testing, duct leakage testing, functional performance tests) and commissioning activities.
- Progress Monitoring \& Reporting:
- Monitor the progress of mechanical works against the project schedule and report any potential delays.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports, daily logs, and other required documentation.
- Track and manage changes to the mechanical scope, including variations and change orders.
- Problem Solving \& Technical Support:
- Provide technical guidance and support to site teams to resolve mechanical-related issues.
- Recommend solutions for design or construction challenges on-site.
- Safety \& Compliance:
- Promote a safety-conscious culture among all personnel involved in mechanical installations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Consultancy Experience.
- 12 years of progressive experience as a Site Mechanical Engineer in construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Experience with BIM software like Revit is a plus.
