Employment type – Temporary full-time role up to 24 months

Salary - $129,464.00 pa - $142,665.00 pa, plus superannuation and leave loading

Your role

This role sits within Information and Digital services (IDS) and supports the ongoing reliability and performance of key case management and digital services used across the NSW justice system. The role focuses on hands-on system administration / Site Reliability Engineering and cloud operations work, including application deployments, automation, and improving how services are run and supported on AWS and related enterprise platforms. It is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to work on large, business-critical systems, build practical SRE and DevOps experience, and contribute directly to public service outcomes in a collaborative, hybrid working environment.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day support, deployment, and reliability of applications and platforms hosted on AWS and integrated enterprise systems. This includes managing and deploying applications on Kubernetes and JBoss, supporting middleware such as IBM MQ, monitoring system performance, responding to incidents, and implementing automation to improve stability and efficiency. You will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to plan and deliver changes, maintain operational documentation, and ensure services continue to meet agreed service and reliability expectations.

The Web Services and Digital Applications team within IDS Applications and Platforms Management supports and maintains a case management system and a jury system across both cloud and on‑premises environments. We ensure these critical frontline justice applications remain stable, secure and high‑performing while driving continuous improvement across the digital justice ecosystem.

What we’re looking for

In addition to the essential requirements outlined in the role description, The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting and deploying enterprise applications on AWS, with strong skills in Kubernetes (EKS), DevOps and SRE practices, and a good understanding of application platforms such as JBoss, IBM MQ, and databases including Oracle on RDS.

They will bring clear communication skills, a strong service delivery mindset, and the ability to work effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders in a collaborative, hybrid working environment.
