Mō te tūranga - About the role

As a Senior Risk Analyst, Credit Risk Acquisition in our Acquisition and Policy Credit Risk team, you'll play a key role in using data to shape lending decisions, improve customer outcomes, and support sustainable portfolio growth.

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with data, exploring complex problems and using programming and analytical tools to uncover meaningful insights. You'll combine technical expertise with commercial thinking, translating large and complex datasets into clear recommendations that influence credit risk strategy, policy and business decisions.

You'll spend your time analysing large datasets, developing insights and helping shape acquisition strategies for New Zealand's personal and small business lending portfolios. Working closely with stakeholders across Risk, Data and Product teams, you'll turn complex information into practical recommendations that support both growth and risk outcomes.

• Use data and programming tools to identify trends, opportunities and emerging risks across lending portfolios.
• Develop and enhance acquisition strategies, policies and decisioning frameworks through analytical insight.
• Monitor portfolio performance and assess the impact of strategy changes, providing clear recommendations to stakeholders.
• Translate complex data into compelling stories and actionable insights that influence business decisions. Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Strong programming and analytical skills, with experience using tools such as SQL, Python, SAS, R, Tableau, GCP or similar to manipulate, analyse and interpret complex datasets.
• Experience turning data into actionable insights, with the ability to identify trends, solve problems and influence business decisions through evidence-based recommendations.
• A genuine curiosity for data and a passion for exploring complex information to uncover meaningful opportunities, risks and outcomes.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate technical and analytical findings into clear, compelling stories for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working in banking, financial services, credit risk or a similarly data-rich environment, with an understanding of how analytics can support strategy and decision-making.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in a quantitative discipline such as Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science or a related field.
