Senior Pump Systems Engineer

About the Role

Pompa Uzmani Pump and Engineering Services is a specialist engineering company providing industrial pump solutions, rotating equipment services, fluid handling systems, commissioning, maintenance and technical support for clients across the energy, water, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Pump Systems Engineer to lead the design, selection, installation and optimization of pump systems for a wide range of industrial applications. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from engineering design and equipment selection to commissioning, troubleshooting and after-sales technical support.

This position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams and major industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design: Design and develop pump and fluid handling systems in accordance with project specifications, engineering standards and client requirements.

Equipment Selection: Select centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, motors, seals, valves, piping and auxiliary equipment for industrial applications.

System Analysis: Perform hydraulic calculations, pump sizing, flow analysis, pressure-loss calculations and system performance evaluations.

Technical Support: Provide engineering support during proposal preparation, project execution, installation, commissioning and operational troubleshooting.

Project Coordination: Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and civil engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Commissioning: Lead equipment inspections, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests and commissioning activities.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose equipment failures, vibration issues, cavitation, seal failures and performance problems while recommending corrective actions.

Client Engagement: Serve as the primary technical contact for clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers throughout project execution.

Documentation: Prepare engineering reports, calculations, technical specifications, method statements, operating manuals and project documentation.

Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with company quality standards, project specifications and international engineering codes.

Health and Safety: Promote safe work practices and ensure engineering activities comply with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior engineers and field service personnel.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional engineering registration or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in pump systems, rotating equipment or industrial mechanical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, hydraulic systems and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with pump selection software and hydraulic calculations.
• Knowledge of API, ISO and other relevant engineering standards.
• Experience with commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial pump systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Arabic language proficiency is considered an advantage.
• Willingness to travel to client sites when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within the oil and gas, water treatment, utilities, manufacturing or petrochemical industries.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent engineering software.
• Experience conducting root cause failure analysis and reliability improvement projects.
• Knowledge of predictive maintenance and condition-monitoring techniques.
• Experience supervising engineers, technicians and contractors.
• Certification in project management or reliability engineering is advantageous.
