About the Role

As a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager, you will play a key leadership role in delivering the Lung Screening Mobile Pilot, a nationally significant initiative designed to test and refine equitable mobile lung screening delivery ahead of a future national programme.

In this role, you will lead and coordinate a key workstream within the pilot, ensuring deliverables are achieved on time, within scope, and aligned to programme objectives. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and reporting on workstream activities, while managing risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations across a complex and evolving environment.

Working closely with clinicians, district representatives, operational leaders, and subject matter experts, you will support implementation activities that contribute to equitable access, high-quality service delivery, and improved health outcomes for communities across Aotearoa.

The pilot is a partnership between Planning, Funding \& Outcomes and National Public Health Services, working closely with Hawkes Bay and Lakes Districts

About the Project

The Lung Screening Mobile Pilot is a nationally significant initiative that will help shape the future of lung cancer screening in Aotearoa New Zealand. Building on the learnings from The Lung Cancer Screening Research Programme. The pilot has been established to test and refine the feasibility, effectiveness, and equity of mobile screening delivery. Operating across the Hawke's Bay and Lakes districts, the programme will bring screening closer to communities, improve access to early detection, and support better health outcomes through the identification of lung cancers at an earlier, more treatable stage.

About you

As an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager, you will bring strong project delivery capability, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a proven ability to lead complex initiatives across multidisciplinary environments.

You will ideally have:

• A relevant tertiary qualification and/or 5 to 8 years project management experience
• Experience leading complex projects, programmes, or workstreams within health, government, or similarly complex environments
• Demonstrated experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
• Proven success delivering project outcomes within agreed timelines, scope, and quality expectations
• Strong planning, risk management, dependency management, and reporting capability
• Experience working with and influencing senior leaders, clinicians, and cross-functional teams
• The ability to lead programmes of work through competing priorities and complex stakeholder environments
• Experience developing and maintaining project documentation, implementation plans, reporting frameworks, operational guidance, and standard operating procedures
• Strong financial, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• A sound understanding of the New Zealand health system and the challenges and opportunities associated with health service delivery
• A collaborative, outcome-focused approach and a commitment to improving equity and health outcomes for Māori, Pacific peoples, and other priority populations

You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced implementation environment, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery and supporting successful outcomes across interconnected workstreams.
