We are now looking for a highly experienced Senior Manager, Korean Fleet to lead the development and performance of our Korean-managed fleet and contribute to the long-term success of our global fleet operations.
The role is responsible for ensuring that assigned vessels operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with international maritime, flag state, class and environmental requirements. As the primary Fleet Management interface with Korean ship management partners, the role will drive fleet governance, operational reliability and continuous performance improvement in line with company strategy. The position also includes people management responsibility.
Job Description: WHAT YOU'LL DO* Ensure the Korean-managed fleet complies with applicable statutory, flag state, class, port state, environmental and company requirements. * Act as the primary Fleet Management interface with Korean ship management partners, vessels and relevant internal stakeholders. * Drive the progress and development of the Korean fleet through structured performance reviews, improvement plans and follow-up of agreed actions. * Set and uphold expectations for safety, quality, technical integrity, operational reliability, environmental performance and cost efficiency. * Monitor key fleet risks and performance trends, intervene where required and escalate material concerns in a timely manner. * Provide clear management reporting on compliance, performance, risk, cost and improvement delivery. * Maintain oversight of vessel safety \& compliance performance, audits, inspections, deficiencies, findings and corrective actions, working through ship managers to ensure meticulous compliance to plan with effective and timely closure. * Lead regular business and vessel performance reviews with Korean ship management partners, using KPIs, trend analysis and agreed improvement agendas. * Monitor technical condition, maintenance performance, defect rectification, operational availability and reliability; challenge recovery plans where performance is below expectation. * Support fleet dry-docking planning, lifecycle maintenance, retrofit and major repair planning, with appropriate challenge on scope, cost, schedule, risk and quality. In particular ensuring scope is suitable for age and condition of vessels to maintain WW expected standards. * Support and challenge OPEX and CAPEX forecasts and proposals within delegated authority, balancing cost, compliance, reliability and long-term asset value. * Promote a strong safety culture, continuous improvement and consistent application of best practice through shipboard and shore-based partners. * Support WW teams and ship management partner for energy-efficiency, sustainability, digitalization and decarbonization initiatives applicable to the Korean fleet. * Support incident management, investigations and root-cause analysis, and verify that corrective and preventive actions are implemented and sustained. Contribute to emergency response and business continuity activities when required. * Support decisions on vessel transitions, changes in ship manager arrangements and fleet development projects as assigned. * Keep abreast of regulatory and industry changes in particular trends and effects of Korean local requirements and coordinate their implementation with ship managers and internal subject-matter teams. * Monitor implementation of company policies, governance tools, management systems, instructions and technical standards across the assigned fleet.
Job Requirements: WHAT YOU'LL NEED* Senior maritime license, or bachelor’s or master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Naval Architecture, Maritime Management or a related discipline. * Normally 5–10 years of relevant experience in fleet technical management, maritime operations, vessel management, compliance, incident investigation or a related specialist field. * Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations, class and flag requirements, safety management systems, planned maintenance \& defect management, environmental compliance, risk management and ISO-based management systems. * Good understanding of RoRo shipping and fleet operations, including maintenance, dry-docking, lifecycle planning, OPEX and CAPEX control, and vessel performance management. * Experience working with Korean ship management organizations or the Korean maritime sector is highly desirable. * Professional fluency in English is a key requirement. Korean language capability is highly desirable. * Safety leadership and a proactive risk mindset. * High integrity, sound judgement, willingness and confidence to intervene or escalate. * Strong analytical, meticulous detail, problem-solving and decision-making capability. * Ability to build trusted relationships and influence multicultural internal and external stakeholders without relying solely on formal authority. * Commercial awareness and the ability to balance cost, risk, compliance, reliability and long-term asset value. * Structured delivery focus, with meticulous and disciplined follow-up of actions, projects and improvement programmes. * Clear written and verbal communication, including concise executive reporting. * Commitment to collaboration, learning, standardization and continuous improvement.
