Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced technical support across various platforms, ensuring the smooth operation of our organisation’s IT infrastructure. This role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of network and system administration. The Senior IT Support Specialist will play a key role in maintaining system integrity, supporting end-users, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Duties
- Deliver expert-level support for desktop, server, and network issues across Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Manage and maintain computer hardware, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of peripherals and components.
- Administer Microsoft Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and TCP/IP networking protocols.
- Oversee the deployment and management of software using tools such as SCCM and BMC Remedy.
- Provide assistance with software troubleshooting for applications including Microsoft Office suite and specialised enterprise tools like ServiceNow and Jira.
- Support network infrastructure including LAN/WAN environments, TCP/IP configurations, DNS management, and firewall security measures.
- Conduct regular system analysis to identify potential issues before they impact users or operations.
- Assist with the configuration and maintenance of remote access solutions ensuring secure connectivity for remote staff.
- Document incidents and resolutions accurately within help desk systems to facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other IT team members on projects related to system upgrades, security enhancements, and infrastructure optimisation.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of computer networking principles including LAN/WAN architecture, TCP/IP protocols, DNS management, VPN setup, and firewall configuration.
- Proven experience in desktop support across Windows (including Windows Server), macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Strong understanding of Active Directory administration along with experience in managing user accounts and permissions.
- Proficiency in software troubleshooting within enterprise environments using tools such as SCCM and BMC Remedy.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
- Familiarity with help desk ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Jira for incident management.
- Ability to analyse complex technical issues efficiently while maintaining a professional approach under pressure.
- Knowledge of network security practices including VPNs, firewalls, TCP/UDP protocols; experience with Cisco or similar hardware is advantageous.
- Experience supporting enterprise-level infrastructure including operating systems (Windows Server & client OS), DNS services, LAN/WAN connectivity.
