The Consumer Investigations Unit (CIU) of Service Alberta \& Red Tape Reduction administers the Consumer Protection Act (Act) and its related regulations, as well as other legislation designed to promote a fair marketplace by establishing a minimum standard of conduct in respect of the marketing and sale of goods and services in Alberta.
The CIU Senior Investigator is an advanced-level professional responsible for ensuring a fair marketplace by conducting investigations, enforcing consumer protection legislation, and addressing Criminal Code offences like theft, fraud, and forgery. This role focuses on complex, high-priority, and politically sensitive cases, often involving collaboration with provincial, national, and international law enforcement.
Key responsibilities include using advanced investigation techniques, executing search warrants, and employing enforcement tools such as administrative actions, civil actions, injunctions, and prosecutions. The Senior Investigator operates with minimal supervision, leads critical investigations, trains junior staff, and provides guidance to colleagues.

This position is located at Commerce Place Building, 10155-102 Street, Edmonton, AB.
This position may also require a CPIC check and qualification for Level 3 security clearance.
