About the Opportunity \| Mō tēnei tūranga Are you ready to take on a senior leadership role that drives engineering excellence and delivers impactful results? We are looking for a Senior Engineering Project Manager to join our Central and Upper South Island Projects team.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a variety of complex engineering projects that significantly improve the sustainability, safety, quality, and reliability of assets within our operations. Your projects will be highly visible to senior leaders and will make a real difference to the future performance and success of Fonterra.
As a Senior Engineering Project Manager, you’ll manage a variety of complex, high-value projects through all stages of delivery—from conception, scoping, and concept design to detailed design, contracting, implementation, commissioning, and handover, including post-completion support.
In addition to managing larger and more complex projects, you’ll take on a significant leadership role within the team, mentoring and guiding Engineering Project Managers. You’ll drive strategic initiatives, collaborate closely with senior leaders, and deliver impactful results that align with Fonterra’s long-term goals.
Reporting to the CUSI Regional Portfolio Manager, this role is based in Canterbury, with a preference for Clandeboye site, and the role will service projects across all Central and Upper South Island sites.
About You \| Mōu We’re looking for a seasoned professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-quality engineering environment and can turn ambiguity into well-defined scopes of work. You’ll bring a strong project management background, proven leadership skills, and the ability to deliver projects end-to-end.
To succeed in this role, you’ll have extensive knowledge across consumer food or milk processes, familiarity with project management tools and techniques, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
You’ll also demonstrate excellent prioritization and decision-making skills, reliability, and the ability to identify and provide solutions to keep jobs moving forward.
Key Skills \& Attributes: A degree in Dairy Process, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience. * Extensive project management experience delivering industrial projects with budgets exceeding $1M per project. * Proven ability to resource, lead, and manage several projects simultaneously. * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to fully scope and cost projects. * Experience leading consultants and contractors through design, installation, commissioning, and handover activities. * Proven experience managing larger and more complex projects. * Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide team members. * Strategic thinking and the ability to drive innovation and change across multiple sites. * Experience working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to deliver high-impact results Our Values \| Ngā Aura At Fonterra, our values of Good Together, Better Every Day, and Every Drop Counts, are for everyone – no matter your background, identify or experience.
