We are an artificial intelligence and advanced analytics company based in Kuala Lumpur, working with international technology partners to deploy real-time data and AI solutions in the energy sector. We are expanding into upstream drilling performance and are building a Malaysian delivery team from the ground up.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced drilling professional to lead technical delivery of drilling performance and drilling optimisation work for operators and drilling contractors in Malaysia and the region. You will bridge drilling operations and data — using real-time and historical rig data to identify, quantify and deliver measurable performance improvement.

This is a foundational hire. You will help define how the service is delivered, and grow a team around you.

Key responsibilities

• Lead drilling performance improvement engagements: baseline assessment, offset well analysis, technical limit definition and post-well performance reporting
• Analyse rig-site data (EDR/WITSML, mud logging, MWD/LWD) to identify ROP, tripping, connection and flat-time improvement opportunities
• Quantify and reduce NPT and invisible lost time; build KPI and benchmarking frameworks
• Support deployment and calibration of drilling analytics and automation software on client rigs alongside partner engineering teams
• Provide real-time and post-well technical advisory to client drilling engineers, superintendents and rig crews
• Run technical workshops, performance reviews and lessons-learned sessions with client teams
• Translate client operational requirements into scope, deliverables and acceptance criteria
• Mentor junior engineers and data scientists on drilling domain fundamentals

Requirements

• Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical or related Engineering
• Minimum 8 years in drilling operations or drilling engineering, including at least 3 years in drilling performance, optimisation or technical limit work
• Hands-on rig experience, offshore and/or land — Malaysia or Southeast Asia preferred
• Strong grasp of drilling mechanics: hydraulics, torque and drag, BHA and bit selection, MSE, vibration and dysfunction management
• Demonstrated, measurable performance gains you can speak to (days per well, cost per metre, NPT reduction)
• Comfortable with large operational datasets; familiar with EDR data structures, WITSML and drilling analytics platforms
• Credible with both rig crews and client management
• Willing to travel and work offshore as required; valid BOSIET/OPITO or willingness to obtain

Advantageous

• Experience as an approved service provider to a national oil company
• Exposure to drilling automation or closed-loop control systems
• Working knowledge of Python, Power BI or similar
• Experience in a start-up or new market entry environment
