Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, automate, and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure and deployment pipelines. This role requires strong expertise in cloud platforms, automation, security best practices, and modern DevOps methodologies. The successful candidate will work in an agile and collaborative environment, ensuring security is integrated into development workflows and infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop automation and processes to enable teams to deploy, manage, scale, and monitor applications across data center and cloud environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system and application issues across platforms, including participation in on-call escalations for critical incidents.
  • Take ownership of end-to-end infrastructure and security solutions across the organisation.
  • Provision virtual machines, databases, application containers, and software licences for development teams.
  • Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines, incorporating streamlined change management and release processes.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to support software build, integration, and deployment across development and production environments.
  • Automate configuration management for development, quality assurance, and production workloads.
  • Design, build, optimise, and monitor automation systems to identify bottlenecks and maximise service availability.
  • Implement security practices aligned with industry standards to protect organisational data and infrastructure.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor system security architecture, including threat and risk assessments.
  • Perform security checks, including vulnerability assessments and system hardening, and support troubleshooting of security incidents.
  • Apply secure configurations and best practices when implementing security controls in infrastructure and applications.

Requirements

Must Have

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
  • Strong passion for automation, standardisation, and best practices in infrastructure and security.
  • Experience with AWS Government Commercial Cloud platform.
  • Experience with SHIP-HATS platform.
  • Strong understanding of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as AWS services including ECS and Fargate.
  • Experience with Git and modern branching workflows.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning, system backup, and restore processes.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience managing AWS cloud-native databases.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring and observability tools. Good to Have

  • Experience in at least one programming or scripting language such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Go.

  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as KVM, VMware, or Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Native Computing Foundation tools such as Prometheus, Helm, ArgoCD, Istio, Gatekeeper, or Crossplane.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues across system resources and application stacks. Security and Compliance

  • Experience implementing security controls within CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native architectures, including SAST and DAST tools.

  • Hands-on experience with security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and system hardening.
  • Strong understanding of AWS cloud network infrastructure, including firewalls, subnets, routing, and access controls.
  • Experience performing security assessments in government or highly regulated environments. Added Advantage

  • AWS DevOps or Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification.

  • Hands-on experience with web application or API security, secrets management, and zero-trust architectures.
