Senior data engineer

This position is based in our office in Warsaw, and you will join Regulatory Reporting – a part of Reporting Solutions, which has a focus on BEC’s Credit Risk and Financial reporting to the FSA among others.

The open position as Data engineer offers a unique opportunity to be part of a high-performing team, which contributes to the Tech Transformation within BEC. As a large data consumer in BEC for our various reporting, we play a significant role in the Data Transformation project, where we help our customers deliver Data Products which are relevant, accurate and timely.

You will work with complex regulatory requirements, collaborate with engaged customers across Denmark, and help shape future solutions that enable the banks to make quality decisions and stay compliant. The role provides a broad stakeholder landscape, close collaboration across teams in both Denmark and Poland, and meaningful influence on solutions used throughout the financial sector.

Your direct manager will be Thomas Tang Pjetursson.

Primary tasks and responsibilities include:

• Participate and act as a mentor in the tech transformation of existing solutions from legacy Data Warehouse based on Netezza to the new data platform based on Azure and Databricks
• Create User Interfaces (i.e. Dashboards, reports or other forms of data visualization) enabling delivery of actionable insights for the end users
• Develop effective end-to-end data processing flows, including various data processing steps that include and are not limited to acquisition, cleansing, integration/ consolidation, transformation and delivery/exposure
• Work with Kafka and process received events to meet the business requirements
• Ensure timely delivery of housekeeping and maintenance tasks
• Collaborate with the team architect, data engineers, business analysts and software developers in and outside of the Reporting Solutions domain

To succeed you will have:

• 5 years of experience as Data Engineer
• Hands-on experience with Databricks
• Hands-on experience with PySpark
• Experience with integrating different data sources into Data Warehouse (API, Kafka, SFTP)
• Hands-on experience in Python
• Hands-on experience in writing and optimizing SQL
• Deep knowledge of data modeling and data warehouse architecture
• A curious mind with an open nature and desire to knowledge-share with others
• A proactive and self-driven approach
• Experience in gathering development requirements
