Within DCS, the ICT Category Management team plays a critical role in shaping how NSW Government procures and manages technology. The team is responsible for establishing category strategy, governing and managing ICT All of Government Agreements (AoGAs), ensuring agencies can access consistent, value-for-money commercial arrangements with key suppliers.

As part of the Digital Sourcing function, the team offers a unique opportunity to work at scale across multiple agencies and suppliers, gaining exposure to complex commercial environments and whole-of-government priorities. The opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role works closely with Category Managers to provide high-quality analysis and insights that support strategic category planning, decision making, contract management and supplier governance.

This is not a traditional “data science” role. You will work directly with real supplier and contract data, making sense of complex information from multiple sources and turning it into clear, actionable insights.

You will play a key role in improving how the team uses data to develop category strategies, understand supplier performance, validate pricing, drive benefit realisation and strengthen governance across major ICT agreements.

Day to day responsibilities* Analyse suppliers spend and billing data, including validating charges against agreed contract and pricing terms * Identify trends, risks and opportunities across suppliers and ICT categories * Support pricing reviews and commercial evaluations for ICT All of Government Agreements * Develop and maintain dashboards (e.g. Power BI) to provide visibility of supplier performance, spend and benefits * Consolidate and interpret data from multiple suppliers into a single, clear view for decision making * Track, monitor and report on benefits realised through category strategies and agreements * Work with category teams to translate business questions into structured analysis * Identify and implement opportunities to improve and automate recurring processes (e.g. supplier reporting requests, tracking submissions, data consolidation) * Provide clear, practical advice to stakeholders based on analysis, including highlighting issues and recommended actions

What you will bring to this role

  • Strong analytical capability and the ability to work with complex, multi-source datasets
  • Experience in working with financial, pricing or commercial data (e.g. billing, rates, contracts, supplier data)
  • Ability to quickly understand the context (eg contracts, pricing structures or supplier arrangements) translate data into clear insights that support business decisions \
  • Experience in building dashboards and visualisations (Power BI or similar)
  • Experience in improving or automating processes using digital tools (e.g. Power Automate or similar)
  • Strong stakeholder skills, with the ability to explain insights in plain English
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work across multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment
