THE ROLE

As Senior Analyst, Investment Performance and Reporting, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day support and analysis of the performance management, analytics, and reporting functions. Delivering value-added integrated reporting and insights on the Total Fund and Investment department activities, you’ll work as part of a team to meet the internal reporting needs of UPP.

The Senior Analyst will be responsible for producing, developing, and presenting reporting and analysis that support Total Fund reporting, investment commentary, and other internal and external reporting needs. This individual will also support data management, reporting automation, and the design of efficient, well-controlled processes to enhance the quality, consistency, and scalability of reporting activities.

This role is based in downtown Toronto in a hybrid work environment, allowing employees the flexibility to work remotely and in-office (minimum two days per week in-office).

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

Investment Performance

  • Perform and document regular data reconciliations to ensure upstream and downstream data is accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Analyze performance results by investigating discrepancies, explaining drivers of performance, and resolving issues.
  • Maintain and enhance reporting controls by applying analytical reviews, reasonableness checks, testing, and automated control processes across performance, attribution, and benchmark reporting.
  • Drive process automation and enhancements to improve operational efficiency, control effectiveness, and scalability.
  • Produce timely performance reporting and analysis for scheduled and ad hoc needs, including coordination with internal and external parties to ensure required reporting is received on time.

Investment Reporting

  • Prepare timely Total Fund reports, investment commentary, and other recurring reports with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
  • Lead the development of new and ad hoc reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze, integrate, and manage data from multiple sources to support reporting, improve data quality, and identify opportunities for process efficiency.
  • Develop and implement AI-powered tools, automation solutions, and scripts using technologies such as Python, SQL, and Office 365 tools (e.g., SharePoint, Power BI) to enhance team productivity and streamline workflows.
  • Contribute to the development and support of an AI-driven operational framework by establishing standards, workflows, and scalable approaches for automated processes and automate recurring tasks to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Document automated processes, process flows, procedures, and controls to support ongoing maintenance, governance, scalability, and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Investment and Data \& Analytics, to support reporting, data management, and process enhancements.

QUALIFICATIONS \& EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or a related field, is required
  • Graduate degree, professional designation (e.g. CFA, CIPM, CPA) or progression toward one is an asset.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in calculation of performance measurement and attribution
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Power Query
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Proficiency in business intelligence tools such as Power BI, DOMO, etc.

EXPECTED COMPENSATION

The expected compensation for this role is an annualized base salary in the range of $70,800 to $95,800. This range reflects the expected range for new hire base salaries and is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

You may also be eligible for a variable incentive depending on organizational, divisional and personal performance. The final total compensation offered will vary depending on your skills, experience and other factors.
