At HEB Construction, we’re proud of the role we play in building and maintaining New Zealand’s transport infrastructure. We’re now looking for a motivated Sealing Labour / Operator to join our Surfacing team, supporting sealing and surfacing works across a range of projects.
This is a practical, hands‑on role where you’ll be part of a supportive crew delivering quality outcomes on essential roading infrastructure.
The role
As a Sealing Labour / Operator, you’ll support the surfacing crew through a mix of plant operation and general labouring duties, helping ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You’ll work closely with Supervisors and the wider team, contributing to day‑to‑day surfacing activities while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and environmental responsibility.
What you’ll be doing * Supporting the surfacing crew with day‑to‑day activities on site * Operating plant and machinery you are trained and competent to use * Carrying out manual labouring duties when not operating plant * Attending and actively participating in pre‑start meetings and toolbox talks * Using tools and equipment safely and correctly * Maintaining and looking after tools and site equipment * Reporting hazards, incidents, near misses and non‑compliance * Following safe work methods, quality requirements and environmental controls * Occasionally working night shifts, weekends, or additional hours, as reasonably required. * Working collaboratively to deliver quality work right the first time
What we’re looking for * Full Class 1 driver’s licence * Physically fit and comfortable with manual labour * A strong health and safety focus * Reliable with a positive, can‑do attitude * Good verbal communication skills * Ability to work well as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential): * Class 4 licence or higher * D endorsement * Safe handling of bitumen training * Forklift and W, T, R endorsements * Site Safe or Construct Safe certificate * First Aid, confined space or working at heights tickets * Previous experience in civil construction or surfacing
