The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Scientific Coordinator.

ICIQ is looking for a motivated and experienced scientist with a multidisciplinary mindset and wide range of experience to join the ICIQ research community. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the principal investigators and will contribute significantly to the design and execution of research projects. The post also involves scientific training and education of early stage researcher and writing and managing of projects of the group.
Responsibilities
- He/she will co-supervise the experimental work of Master and PhD students in the laboratory and will provide scientific and technical support to the members of the research groups.
- The candidate will write reports and scientific publications and will assist in the proofreading of manuscripts and project proposals.
- The candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and correct operation of laboratory equipment, and will train group members in the use of techniques and instruments.
- The candidate will be responsible for the purchase of chemicals, laboratory consumables and equipment, including contact with commercial distributors and order management.
- He/she will present research results at congresses and scientific events.
- He/she will act as Safety Coordinator, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, promoting good laboratory practices, correct use of PPE, and safe handling and disposal of chemical waste.
- The candidate will update and maintain the chemical inventory, scientific equipment and drug precursor records of the group, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- He/she will act as a liaison between the research groups and ICIQ support areas (Projects, Finance, Purchases, IT, HR, Travel, SHEQ, Maintenance), coordinating administrative and operational activities.
- The candidate will participate in the design and experimental support of research projects, assisting with the use of technical equipment of the group.
- He/she will manage the group’s agenda, internal laboratory incidents and the organization and management of the work areas of group members.
- The candidate will coordinate emergency evacuations in collaboration with the SHEQ Unit and will actively participate in ICIQ’s Safety and Health Committee.
- He/she will represent the principal investigator at internal institute meetings and communications.
Requirements
- PhD in Chemistry or related field.
- Leadership in the development of research projects.
- High technical abilities within a chemistry laboratory.
- Excellent command of English (written and oral) is required.

- Remuneration in accordance with the Institute's current salary policy, specifically for the Scientific Coordinator category in the research area (PICC), with a salary range of 32.960€–43.260€ gross per year, subject to meeting the criteria established for each level.

Selection Process
ICIQ’s selection process usually entails the following phases:
- Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected on the candidates’ CVs. This phase is merit-based.
- Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee.
- Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is selected, the People Unit will extend a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary and overall job conditions.

A Human Resources Unit representative will participate in the interviews to ensure procedural correctness and compliance with OTM-R principles, without forming part of the Selection Committee.
The evaluation committee will perform the assessment ensuring the absence of conflict of interest with any of the candidates, and will sign a Declaration of Absence of Conflict of Interest (DACI) to that end. In case a conflict of interest arises, the evaluator will be substituted by a different evaluator with similar expertise.
