The National University of Singapore invites applications for position of Research Associate/ Veterinary Technician in the Department of Ophthalmology , Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine to participate in an exciting research program developing treatments for myopia. Specific training will be provided and appointments will be made on a probationary basis and with a 1 year contract in the first instance, but with the possibility of extension for up to 3 years depending on the candidate’s performance, qualifications and experience. Recent PhD graduates are encouraged to apply. Main Duties and Responsibilities
Purpose of the post/Main duties and responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities and Duties (70%) * Support the planning, scheduling and carrying out of day-to-day animal colony breeding activities and procedures, ensuring efficient workflow and adequate care and treatment of research animals * Maintain spreadsheets of animal breeding and interface with record storage (e.g. Tick@Lab) * Help undertake experiments with rodents (specific training will be provided) * Maintain laboratory and freezer order * Undertake monitoring of animals in experimental conditions (specific training will be provided) * Support optical measures and handling of animals (specific training will be provided) * Support animal surgery and tissue dissection (specific training will be provided) * All other duties as and when assigned by immediate supervisor.
