Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Research Associate in High-Temperature Ceramic Coatings. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to an EPSRC-funded project on advanced high-temperature ceramic coatings, within a dynamic and inclusive environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Conduct research in line with project milestones and objectives.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate effectively with industrial and academic partners.

About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria:

  • A PhD (or near completion) in Materials Science or a closely related field.
  • A strong background in processing, testing, characterisation, and/or modelling of ceramic coatings or high-temperature materials.
  • In-depth knowledge of coatings and ceramics for high-temperature applications.

Research knowledge, and preferably hands-on experience of cryogenic measurements of transport or optical properties of atomically thin 2D crystals within the last 6 years.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with thermal or environmental barrier coatings.
  • Practical knowledge in ceramic powder and coating processing techniques.
  • Hands-on expertise in advanced characterisation techniques.
