About the role
ABI Rehabilitation NZ supports people recovering from traumatic brain injury, stroke and other neurological conditions. We are seeking compassionate Rehabilitation Assistants to help clients regain independence, build daily living skills and participate safely in their communities. You will work alongside nurses and allied health professionals to support personalised rehabilitation programs.
Key responsibilities
Assist clients with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, mobility support and meal preparation.
Support rehabilitation and therapy programs under direction of therapists.
Encourage physical activity, independence and participation in community activities (shopping, cooking, cleaning).
Support clients with cognitive and behavioural rehabilitation goals and provide emotional support.
Monitor client wellbeing and report clinical or welfare concerns to registered nurses and therapists.
Maintain a safe, therapeutic and person-centred environment.
Work collaboratively with Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Psychologists.
Participate in shift work including day, evening, weekend and awake night shifts as required.
Skills \& qualifications
Experience in healthcare, disability support, mental health or rehabilitation settings is preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and observation skills.
Compassionate, patient-centred approach with respect for client dignity and autonomy.
Ability to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends.
Full New Zealand driver’s licence for some community-based roles is desirable.
NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2–4) or equivalent is preferred or encouraged.
Relevant training in manual handling, first aid and infection control is an asset.
Pay: From $5,200.00 per month
