Job Description

We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team of 5 vets and 5 nurses as temporary maternity cover .

The Brambles is an independent first opinion small animal practice, based in Churchdown, Gloucester. We offer a varied caseload making the position ideal for RVNs of all experience levels. Our team has a wide range of skills and knowledge, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for any candidate.

In this role you will be involved in all aspects of veterinary nursing, from inpatient care and anaesthesia to nurse clinics and front of house working. We are looking for someone who can work well in a team and has good communication skills.

Hours –

· 5 day working week (37 hours/ week).

· 1:5 weekends (Saturdays 8:30-1:30 and Sundays 9-12).

· 1 day off in lieu following weekend shifts

· Shift patterns will consist of two 8-4:30, two 9-5:30 shifts with one late shift of 11-7:30. When there is an inpatient in overnight, the late nurse is committed to one late night check.

· Over-time payment is provided for any late night checks.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting veterinarians during consultations, surgeries, and examinations
  • Monitoring anaesthetic and post-operative recovery of animals
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and updating patient files
  • Providing pre- and post-operative care to animals in the clinic
  • Supporting clients with advice on animal health, diet, and behaviour
  • Handling laboratory samples and assisting with diagnostic procedures
  • Ensuring the cleanliness and organisation of the clinical environment

Experience

  • Prior veterinary experience is highly desirable, demonstrating familiarity with clinical procedures and animal handling
  • Laboratory experience is advantageous, particularly in sample processing and diagnostic testing
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Compassionate approach towards animals and clients alike
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly

Pay: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
