Job Summary
The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring patients receive their medications accurately, safely, and on time. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmacy practices, medical terminology, and regulatory requirements, combined with a commitment to delivering excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient records and medication profiles.
- Process prescription orders, verifying patient and medication details.
- Provide medication administration support under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Educate patients on proper medication usage and address their prescription-related questions.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to support patient care.
- Supervise and maintain compliance packaging and nursing home prescriptions.
Qualifications
- Valid certification/license as a Pharmacy Technician in Nova Scotia.
- Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and pharmaceutical practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and teamwork.
- Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols is highly desirable.
