Job Summary

The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring patients receive their medications accurately, safely, and on time. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmacy practices, medical terminology, and regulatory requirements, combined with a commitment to delivering excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records and medication profiles.
  • Process prescription orders, verifying patient and medication details.
  • Provide medication administration support under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Educate patients on proper medication usage and address their prescription-related questions.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to support patient care.
  • Supervise and maintain compliance packaging and nursing home prescriptions.

Qualifications

  • Valid certification/license as a Pharmacy Technician in Nova Scotia.
  • Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and pharmaceutical practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and teamwork.
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of medication administration protocols is highly desirable.
  • Dedication to professionalism, confidentiality, and high-quality patient care.
