Registered Nurse (Band 5) – Leighton House Nursing Home

Leighton House is a specialist dementia nursing home in Epsom, Surrey providing excellent care to up to 26 residents in a recently refurbished, modern and warm environment. At Leighton House, we provide a high-standard clinical environment where Registered Nurses are empowered to lead. We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN) to join our multidisciplinary team, ensuring our residents receive the sophisticated, person-centred care they deserve.
The Role:
As a Nurse, you will be responsible for the nursing care of our residents. You will have the clinical freedom to make critical decisions while supported by a management team that values your expertise.
- Clinical Management: Take the lead in assessing, planning, and implementing bespoke care plans that address complex physical, psychological, and social needs.
- Medication Administration: Oversee the safe storage and administration of medicines in strict accordance with NMC standards and Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines.
- Decision Making: Act as the clinical lead on shift, utilizing your professional judgment to respond to emergencies and changing clinical conditions.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain impeccable records and lead detailed risk assessments to ensure a safe, compliant environment for both residents and staff.
- Advocacy: Act as a key point of contact for families and external healthcare professionals, ensuring the resident's voice is at the heart of all care decisions.
About You:
We are looking for a clinician who balances technical proficiency with deep empathy. To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Professional Status: A valid, clear NMC Pin (Registered General Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse).
- Clinical Expertise: Proven experience in a nursing home or acute setting, with a strong grasp of wound care, catheterisation, and end-of-life care.
- Regulatory Knowledge: A robust understanding of the Health and Social Care Act, including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA).
- Documentation Skills: Proficiency in digital care management systems with an eye for detail in clinical auditing.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills and the ability to mentor junior care staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
