Regional Operations Manager

£34,000 Per annum plus car allowance and company bonus

Lead and manage a regional field team to deliver operational excellence across high street and grocery retailers. Ensure effective resourcing, call delivery, and performance management to meet client and business KPIs. Drive engagement, innovation, and continuous improvement while supporting strategic and tactical initiatives.

About the Role

  • Lead a team of 10+ Field Performance Leaders and 100+ merchandisers, delivering 1500+ calls weekly.
  • Ensure KPI delivery in call coverage, quality, training, recruitment, and absence management.
  • Oversee onboarding, training, and compliance (WTD, H&S, HR policies).
  • Manage payroll hours, resource planning, and performance issues.
  • Drive operational efficiency through reterritorisation and engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with recruitment and planning teams to meet resourcing needs.
  • Represent the region in head office and client meetings; act as cover for line manager.
  • Promote a positive, professional culture aligned with Smiths News values.

About you

  • Proven experience in retail operations management and remote team leadership.
  • Strong track record in KPI delivery, change management, and business improvement.
  • Excellent communication, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to create training materials and reports.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and solutions-focused with a hands-on leadership style.
