Summary
Join K-W Seniors Day Program as a Recreation Therapist in Kitchener
Monday to Friday 25 hours a week during the day.
In this vital role you will design and implement therapeutic recreational activities that promote well-being and independence among our senior clients. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of delivering compassionate and holistic care to our community.
Responsibilities
- Develop and facilitate therapeutic recreational programs tailored to the needs of seniors with cognitive impairments and physical disabilities.
- Assess clients’ interests, abilities, and medical conditions to create personalized Care Plans and activity plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare team and caregivers to ensure holistic support.
- Monitor and document client progress, adjusting activities as needed.
- Promote social interaction and mental stimulation through engaging activities.
- Maintain a safe environment during all activities.
- Stay informed about best practices in senior recreational therapy.
- Qualifications
- Certification in post secondary education in Recreational Therapy or related field
- 2 years experience in dementia care or senior care settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to elderly health conditions.
- Strong case management skills.
- Experience working in Adult Day Program is an asset
- Excellent communication skills with seniors and their families.
- Ability to develop creative therapeutic activities.
- Compassionate approach with a focus on holistic well-being.
