Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor Engineer with a strong background in civil and building construction. The candidate will be responsible for quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, cost estimation, tendering, valuations, variations, subcontractor payments, and overall project cost control. These are common requirements in current Bahrain QS roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, BOQs, cost estimates, and project budgets.
  • Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct site measurements and verify completed quantities.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, materials, and wastage.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Prepare comparative statements and assist with commercial evaluations.
  • Prepare interim valuations, payment applications, and progress claims.
  • Evaluate variations, claims, change orders, and additional works.
  • Monitor subcontractor payments and verify submitted quantities.
  • Assist with tender preparation and contract administration.
  • Prepare final accounts and project cost reports.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Maintain accurate records of quantities, costs, variations, contracts, and commercial documents.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of relevant experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
  • Strong experience in civil/building construction projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of BOQs, quantity take-offs, estimation, costing, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Good knowledge of construction materials, labour costs, subcontractor pricing, and local market rates.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and AutoCAD; experience with QS/estimation software is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Bahrain/GCC construction experience is highly preferred.
  • Must be currently available in Bahrain.
  • Immediate joiner is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with a cancelled/transferable visa or valid local status are preferred.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in villa, residential, commercial, high-rise, civil, fit-out, or general building construction will be highly considered.
