PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that power and distribution transformers are manufactured in accordance with customer specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality objectives. This role supports quality assurance and quality control activities across incoming materials, manufacturing processes, testing, and final product inspections. The Quality Engineer works closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customers to drive continuous improvement, reduce defects, and maintain high product reliability and customer satisfaction.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control plans, inspection procedures, and testing standards for transformer manufacturing.
- Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality requirements and specifications.
- Conduct in-process inspections and final product audits of transformers, components, and assemblies.
- Review manufacturing records, test reports, and quality documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Work with cross-functional teams, local experts, partners and suppliers to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes are understood and accounted for as required
- Train Quality Inspectors and Lead Hands to follow Quality Inspection Instructions.
- Prepare and perform QMS (Quality Management System) audits to insure that all procedures and instructions related to the QMS are adhered to.
- Lead the investigation of customer non-conformance reports and all responses using the 8D Problem Solving methodology.
- Provide technical support for issues related to new products, new customers, and/or qualification of new equipment and personnel.
- Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including Supplier OTD (Past due), DPPM and waste Establish specific short / long term supplier quality goals
- Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non‐conformances
- Develop long term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas
- Ensure routine, type, and special transformer tests comply with IEC, IEEE, ANSI, IS, or customer-specific standards.
- Verify calibration and maintenance of inspection, measuring, and testing equipment.
- Analyze test results and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce scrap, and improve process capability.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools.

Work Experience
COMPETENCIES \& SKILLS
- Knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes, including core assembly, winding, insulation, tank fabrication, vacuum processing, oil filling, and testing.
- Understanding transformer standards such as IEC 60076, IEEE/ANSI, and customer specifications.
- Experience with quality tools including FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, APQP, and PPAP.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and test procedures.

EDUCATION \& QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in Quality Engineering, preferably in transformer, electrical equipment, or heavy manufacturing industries.
- Experience in transformer testing, quality systems, and manufacturing process control is preferred.

- MS Office tools: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project.
- Software: CAD Tools (NX,CATIA,Creo,Solidworks) ERP System (SAP), MES(Simatic IT, Solumina)
- Analysis tools: Minitab14 and
- Product Lifecycle Management: Siemens Teamcenter / ptc Windchill / Dassualt Innovia
