Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Production Designer to join our CSD team. The successful candidate will be the technical link between our interior design concepts and workshop fabrication. Your primary responsibility will be to dissect approved design drawings to generate highly accurate manufacturing drawings, detailed cutting lists, and exact Bills of Materials (BOM). You will ensure that our workshop carpenters and CNC operators have the precise, error-free technical data needed to execute flawless custom furniture and fit-out projects.
Responsibilities and Duties
Technical Drafting \& Detailing: Convert 2D/3D design concepts into detailed shop drawings, section details, and assembly blueprints for the production team.
Cutting List Generation: Prepare highly accurate cutting lists for wood, board materials (MDF, Plywood, Solid Wood), glass, and metal elements, ensuring maximum yield and minimum waste.
Bill of Materials (BOM) Compilation: List every piece of hardware, adhesive, edging, laminate, veneer, and finish needed for each production run.
Nesting \& CNC Programming: (If applicable) Use nested-based software to optimize panel cutting and prep files for CNC routing/machining.
Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM): Identify potential construction issues in design drawings and modify details to simplify assembly while maintaining aesthetic integrity.
Workshop Collaboration: Liaise directly with the Workshop Supervisor and CNC Operators to clarify design intents, assembly methods, and hardware integrations.
Site Coordination: Review site survey dimensions and site conditions to adjust production drawings accordingly before cutting begins.
Qualifications
Education: Diploma or Degree in Wood Technology, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture , or any qualification suitable for the vacancy.
Experience: Minimum 2years of experience specifically as a Production Designer in a high-end joinery or custom furniture workshop.
Technical Knowledge: Exceptional understanding of joinery construction methods, wood materials, board substrates, and wood finishing processes.
Software Mastery: Proficient in AutoCAD (2D/3D).
