What You’ll Do:

Build enterprise cloud infrastructure that provides European data sovereignty and hyperscaler-grade capabilities. You’ll work on SAP Cloud Infrastructure, solving complex distributed systems challenges at scale: multi-region networking, container orchestration, observability, and the APIs that connect them.

You will contribute to building a sovereign, privacy-first AI cloud for the European market that makes it easy to securely train, fine-tune, and deploy foundation and domain models with strict data residency and isolation.

You’ll design and develop solutions using Go, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies, tackling problems like: How do you autoscale thousands of workloads across clusters? How do you build resilient control planes and service meshes? How do you design APIs that handle massive traffic spikes? How do you ensure consistent behavior across multi-region deployments?

Your work will power SAP’s production systems and thousands of customer environments. You’ll drive the design and implementation of infrastructure that enables organizations to run mission-critical applications with the performance and reliability they expect from leading cloud platforms.

In your role as Product Specialist, you’ll take ownership of significant technical domains within SAP Cloud Infrastructure, driving architecture decisions and leading the design of enterprise cloud services that provide European data sovereignty and hyperscaler-grade capabilities. You’ll be a technical anchor for your team, mentoring developers, conducting design reviews, and ensuring engineering excellence across the components you own.

You’ll lead the technical delivery of complex features end-to-end — from requirements analysis through architecture, implementation, and production readiness. You’ll proactively identify technical debt, propose improvements, and drive cross-team alignment on shared infrastructure concerns such as observability, security patterns, and API standards.

Contributing to production systems that serve SAP’s global customer base, you’ll shape engineering practices and drive technical decisions that enable organizations to run mission-critical applications with enterprise grade performance and reliability. Your technical leadership will directly impact how European organizations maintain data sovereignty while accessing world-class cloud capabilities that rival hyperscaler offerings.

What You Bring:

• Programming Mastery: Strong experience developing in Go or Python, with deep understanding of concurrent programming, APIs, distributed systems design, and performance optimization
• Kubernetes and/or OpenStack expertise:

– Kubernetes (satisfies requirement): Hands-on experience operating and developing for Kubernetes in production (cluster management, workload orchestration, and debugging distributed applications); CKA/CKAD/CKS and experience building Kubernetes operators/controllers are strong pluses.

– OpenStack (satisfies requirement): Solid OpenStack development/operations background (e.g., Nova/Neutron/Octavia/Cinder/Keystone, networking/storage troubleshooting, up-grades/automation); experience integrating with Kubernetes is a plus. Experience deploying, tuning, or operating Ceph in production is a strong plus.

• Cloud-Native Ecosystem: Strong familiarity with the broader CNCF landscape (Helm, Prometheus, Flux, Istio, etc.), Linux fundamentals, and container networking
• Cloud Expertise: In-depth experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP), including architecture patterns and best practices for production workloads
• System Design \& Architecture: Proven ability to design scalable, resilient distributed systems and drive architectural decisions across teams; experience documenting and communicating technical designs to diverse audiences
• Advanced Development Practices: Expertise in Git workflows, end-to-end CI/CD pipelines, and extensive experience with test-driven development, code reviews, and establishing engineering standards
• Technical Leadership: 5+ years of software development experience with a track record of leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and driving quality across a team’s deliverables
• Collaboration \& Influence: Excellent communication abilities with experience coordinating across teams, influencing technical direction without formal authority, and fostering a culture of collaboration and mentorship
• Open-Source Contribution: Active participation in open-source communities with contributions to relevant projects
• Security and Compliance: Awareness of industry standards related to security and compliance and experience integrating regulatory requirements into architectural patterns
• Cultural Adaptability: Experience working across cultures and languages with strong communication skills for diverse, distributed teams
• Soft skills: Excellent presentation, communication and problem-solving skills, have a thorough way of working with accuracy, take proactive initiatives, self-dependent and structured mode of working, high level of commitment and reliability, ready to work in a constantly changing, floating environment, fun working in a multinational team
