Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Procurement Specialist to manage the sourcing and purchasing of wood, hardware, paints, fittings, and other materials required for carpentry and production activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, obtaining and evaluating quotations, negotiating competitive prices and commercial terms, ensuring timely deliveries, monitoring supplier performance, and maintaining accurate procurement records. The role requires close coordination with Estimation, Technical, Production, Stores, and Central Procurement teams to ensure materials meet the required specifications, quality standards, budget, and delivery schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure wood, hardware, paints, fittings, and other materials required for carpentry and production.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers based on quality, price, delivery capability, certifications, and overall value.
  • Request, review, and compare quotations from multiple suppliers.
  • Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, contracts, and other commercial conditions.
  • Coordinate with Estimation, Technical, and Production teams to understand material specifications, quantities, measurements, and project requirements.
  • Ensure purchased materials meet approved technical specifications and quality requirements.
  • Process and follow up purchase orders and ensure timely delivery according to agreed schedules.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, pricing, and service.
  • Maintain accurate records of suppliers, quotations, purchase orders, contracts, and deliveries.
  • Prepare procurement reports, purchasing statistics, and cost-saving reports.
  • Monitor market conditions, material availability, price trends, and alternative products or suppliers.
  • Provide the Estimation team with updated supplier prices, product specifications, and market information.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers.
  • Coordinate with the Central Procurement Department regarding suppliers, manufacturers, purchase orders, and procurement requirements.
  • Ensure reliable sources of essential materials and support continuity of supply.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and applicable ISO/IMS requirements.
  • Maintain required documentation, including MSDS for applicable raw materials such as paints, in coordination with the Stores team.
  • Support FSC Chain of Custody requirements where applicable.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, alternative materials, and improved procurement efficiency.
  • Attend supplier meetings, trade exhibitions, and industry events to stay updated on new products, technologies, regulations, and market trends.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Division Manager.

Requirements Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Equivalent education, training, or relevant work experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement or purchasing in a similar capacity.
  • Experience in carpentry, joinery, furniture, interior fit-out, construction, engineering, or manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Strong experience in sourcing and purchasing wood, hardware, and production materials is an advantage.

Skills \& Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of carpentry and production materials, including wood, hardware, fittings, paints, and related materials.
  • Good understanding of procurement, purchasing, inventory, and supply chain processes.
  • Strong supplier sourcing, evaluation, and development skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and cost-control skills.
  • Ability to evaluate quotations based on technical and commercial requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and procurement systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IMS procedures and FSC Chain of Custody requirements is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with relevant procurement regulations, laws, and industry standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively with Estimation, Technical, Production, Stores, Finance, and other internal departments.

  • Commercially aware with strong negotiation and cost-saving abilities.
  • Proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and relationship-management skills.
