PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are seeking a Process Engineer responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for power and distribution transformers to achieve safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity objectives. The role focuses on improving production efficiency, reducing waste, enhancing product quality, supporting new product introduction (NPI), and driving continuous improvement initiatives across transformer manufacturing operations including core assembly, winding, insulation processing, tank fabrication, active part assembly, vacuum treatment, oil filling, testing, and final assembly.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design, develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for transformer production.
- Analyze production workflows and identify opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce cycle time.
- Develop and maintain process flow charts, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation.
- Support introduction of new transformer designs into manufacturing.
- Evaluate manufacturability of new products and recommend process improvements.
- Participate in PFMEA, control plan development, and process validation activities.
- Optimize machine utilization, labor productivity, and material flow.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to winding, core assembly, insulation, tank fabrication, brazing/welding, vacuum processing, and testing.
- Investigate production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Support capacity planning and production ramp-up activities.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and waste reduction projects.
- Implement process improvements to improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Production teams.
- Support customer audits, internal audits, and regulatory compliance activities.

EDUCATION \& QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate in a Mechanical Degree or equivalent work experience
- Should have background on Quality Management Systems
- 7 to 10 years of experience in transformer manufacturing, electrical equipment manufacturing, or heavy engineering industries.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, process optimization, and quality improvement projects preferred.

- MS Office tools: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project.
- CAD Software: UG or equivalent
- Analysis tools: Minitab14 and above
- Product Lifecycle Management: Teamcenter / Solumina / Windchill
