About the Role:
Alloa sits at the heart of Central Scotland, with strong connections to major transport corridors, growing communities and important industrial locations. At AnuPort Logistics and Supply Chain Services, we help public and private sector clients develop transport networks that are practical, sustainable and prepared for future demand.
We are looking for a Principal Transport Planning Consultant who can lead complex transport planning projects from early assessment through to final delivery. You will provide technical direction, manage client relationships and guide multidisciplinary teams working across development planning, transport strategy and infrastructure improvement projects.
This is a senior technical position with significant responsibility, but it does not require executive-level management. You will remain closely involved in project delivery while helping to raise standards across the wider consultancy team.
Why Work With Us?
The Environment:
Our Alloa location provides convenient access to Stirling, Falkirk, Glasgow and Edinburgh. You will work in a professional and collaborative environment where technical specialists are trusted to manage their work and contribute ideas.
Meaningful Projects:
Our assignments support residential developments, commercial sites, logistics operations and public infrastructure. Your recommendations will directly influence how people and goods move safely and efficiently.
Professional Influence:
You will have the opportunity to shape project strategies, technical standards and client recommendations from the earliest planning stages.
Career Development:
We support continued professional development, industry membership and attendance at relevant transport planning and infrastructure events.
Key Responsibilities:
Transport Planning Leadership:
Lead transport assessments, transport statements, access strategies, feasibility studies and sustainable travel plans for complex development and infrastructure projects.
Technical Delivery:
Oversee traffic modelling, junction capacity assessments, trip generation analysis, parking studies and multimodal transport evaluations.
Project Management:
Manage project programmes, budgets, technical resources and deliverables while ensuring work is completed accurately and on schedule.
Client Advisory:
Provide clear and commercially practical transport planning advice to developers, local authorities, engineering teams and other stakeholders.
Planning Support:
Prepare technical evidence for planning applications and respond to questions from local authorities, statutory consultees and project partners.
Team Development:
Mentor junior and mid-level transport planners, review technical work and provide constructive guidance that improves quality and consistency.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Represent the company during client meetings, planning discussions, design workshops and public or professional consultations.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience:
At least 7 years of relevant experience in transport planning, highways development planning or infrastructure consultancy.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of transport assessments, traffic impact analysis, sustainable transport planning and the UK development planning process.
Software Skills:
Experience using recognised transport planning and traffic modelling software such as Junctions 10, LinSig, TRICS, ArcGIS or similar platforms.
Qualifications:
A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning or another relevant discipline.
Professional Membership:
Membership of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, Transport Planning Society or another relevant professional body is desirable.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
Mindset:
You are analytical, commercially aware and comfortable taking responsibility for technically demanding projects. You know how to balance planning requirements, client objectives and practical transport solutions.
Pay: £4,500.00-£5,500.00 per month
Work Location: In person
